The main entrance, King Abdul-Aziz Gate, is just south of the Grand Mosque. It is built on the ruins of the historic Ajyad Fortress and consists of seven Islamic-style towers. Opened in 2011, Abraj Al Bait is part of the King Abdulaziz Endowment Project. Two viewing platforms offer sweeping views over Makkah. The landmark complex houses the five-storey Abraj Al Bait Mall with around 4,000 shops, a museum of Islamic art and prayer rooms for up to 10,000 worshippers. Featuring the world’s largest clock faces, its tallest tower rises over 600 meters high and is visible from miles around. The Abraj Al Bait complex is the most striking modern development in Makkah city center. However, the view during daytime and night time will be totally different so you need to decide. No reservations required but accoding to the front desk, the least visitors are at 1p,-3pm. I am not sure the operating hours outside of Ramadhan. During Ramadhan they opened at 1pm-6pm, and 10pm-2am. A total of 4 floors including the clock floor is opened for visit. Every visitors will be provided a small (multi lingual) device which will narrate automatically once you reach every stations in the museum, according to the language selected. We were quite in a hurry so we took the normal tickets, and it was more than enough. A bit pricey, but the VIP comes with a guide and exclusive lounges. The "normal" ticket is SR75 per pax, while VIP tickets are sold at SR150 per pax.
